Choosing the right antiperspirant

To find the best antiperspirant that fit your needs, you should compare the different products by taking a closer look at their features and decide which purpose you'll need it for.

With our example guidelines below, we hope that you'll find the antiperspirant that fits you best.

Parameters to be considered

When choosing your antiperspirant, it is important to base your decision by contemplating the following parameters:
ˇ Skin type  (sensitive skin - non sensitive skin)
ˇ Ingredients  (with aluminium (add space) chloride - without aluminium chloride)
ˇ Consistency of the product  (spray - cream - gel)
ˇ Skin condition  (oily skin - normal skin - dry skin)
ˇ Potential skin irritations  (massive skin irritations possible - few skin irritations possible)
ˇ Treatment area  (face, underarm, hands or feet)

Where do Antiperspirants differ?

There are a lot of antiperspirants on the market and all of them differ in several ways. Here's a list of some of the differences:
ˇ Astringent ingredient
ˇ Astringent mass
ˇ Penetration of the skin
ˇ Ability to conduct the astringents into the sweat glands
ˇ Antiperspirant consistency  (spray, gel or cream)
ˇ Aggressiveness (of the astringents & basis)
ˇ Skin care properties
ˇ Skin irritations
ˇ Price-performance ratio  (what do I really get for my money?)
ˇ Practicality (do I have to apply 10 times a day or once a week?)
ˇ Areas they treat (hands, feet or underarms)

Example Cases - which antiperspirant to choose under which given parameters

ˇ Sensitive Skin
If you have sensitive skin, we would recommend using a gel or cream antiperspirant. Gels and creams contain very low alcohol percentages, which is an advantage for the skin since it won't get irritated so easily.
Our recommendations: Perspi-Gel or Sweat Protect Ultimate

ˇ  Regular Skin
If you have regular skin that doesn´t get irritated easily, then you can basically use any kind of antiperspirant.
Our recommendations: PerspiGuard, Sweat Protect Ultimate or Perspi-Gel

ˇ Oily or acne plagued skin
In this case, a cream would be counterproductive, since it would make the skin even more oily. The best option would be to use a gel-based antiperspirant.
Our recommendation: Perspi-Gel

ˇ With aluminum chloride
They are a bit more aggressive on the skin, so therefore it is not recommended if your skin is too sensitive.
Our recommendations: PerspiGuard or Sweat Protect Ultimate

ˇ Without aluminum chloride
More suited for sensitive skin or skin that gets irritated easily.
Our recommendation:  Perspi-Gel

What to do if no antiperspirant provides the desired results?

If this situation occurs, there is still the possibility to try Iontophoresis therapy. In most, iontophoresis is a highly effective and approved solution for almost every excessive sweating problem. Everyone who suffers from this condition knows that it can be more than just embarrassing. It can really control your life.

For many years, iontophoresis has been used in clinics, hospitals, and private homes all around the world. In Europe,  iontophoresis is a standard therapy option for treating hyperhidrosis. Most of the studies regarding iontophoresis therapy were made in German university hospitals with great success rates. This is probably due to the highly developed technology and medical equipments in Germany. Our manufacturers offer high-quality devices with improved pulsed current flow and without the well known electric fence effect.

People that can't achieve sweat relief from antiperspirants should try iontophoresis therapy as a solution against excessive sweating. Many of those who have switched from antiperspirants to iontophoresis call this kind of therapy the "electric antiperspirant".

Learn more about iontophoresis and our customer services! We offer you the best machines available on the market, and some are even equipped with a smooth pulsed current feature. Pulsed current is a must, especially on children and young patients and when treating underarms and hands. Even for feet treatment, we would still recommend using pulsed current. Compared to direct current, it is completely smooth and not painful at all. This allows you to handle higher current settings which will most likely lead to faster results. We also offer you a professional support team that will answer all of your questions through mail, phone or our hyperhidrosis forum, normally within 24hrs!
